At 600 Miles change the engine oil and filter using conventional (non-synthetic) oil. Check fuel and ignition settings; adjust valves (where applicable).

Rated 5 out of 5 by Michael G from Great engine for the price! Installed in my 1994' K1500 TBI/Vortec project. Engine runs great with no issues and passed CA emissions with flying colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by The Green Flash from A crate engine like no other! Just put this in my 1996 Chev Tahoe. And after following your manufacture break in instructions, the engine is running great! So much more quieter than the old tired engine which had 190,000 on her.

Rated 4 out of 5 by joe shadetree from 99 Chevy K1500 Suburban "Motor not ready to run" Had a couple of minor issues as to why 4 stars, Jegs and ATK customer service are excellent and helped every way they could. I recommend checking compression on all cylinders, verifying top dead center on #1 cylinder and lash on valves prior to install. Mine arrived with zero compression on #1, backed off 3/4 turn and got 170. 180 degrees out on timing but by doing compression check you'll find it easy to adjust. Call ATK for their break in procedure or download from web it is a little different than Jegs. Other than that started right up and hoping for another 273k miles out of her.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Terryc3 from Great value but has its problems Have about 300 miles on its a great running motor no noises running smooth but the oil pan is leaking from the front by the timing cover and around a few bolts.

Rated 2 out of 5 by leadfoot_chevy from Not the value I expected Price seemed right and it shipped quickly. It arrived and only 3 days with free shipping. While priming the engine it began leaking oil from the oil pan up by the timing chain cover and along the divers side. After contacting Jeggs they gave me a $50 credit (not impressed) and told me to contact ATK directly. I contacted ATK twice, they told me a technician named Eric would call me back within a few hours, I am still waiting on them to call back and it has been more than 30 days. The tins are cheaply made. The valve covers have a push in plug instead of the screw in type my truck and all the other trucks this year model have. I'm about 350 miles in and now the timing chain cover is leaking about halfway up. I had to set the valve lash on every one of the valves before installing the engine because they were not set correctly. The engine did start right up and holds Good oil pressure, but after having to buy a harmonic balancer, the correct valve covers, and the extra time and effort to pull the oil pan off, go down the parts store and get the new parts which was more than the $50 they gave me, I believe it would be cheaper to just buy a GM crate engine next time. The warranty is what sold me on this engine, but if they won't even return your call what good is the warranty. I expected more from a company backed by Jeggs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by NotMike408 from The LKQ run-around -Paid for engine -Paid for installation -1500 miles later, engine started missing bad. -Compression check revealed cylinders with 0, 20, and 80 psi. These things happen... BUT the warranty circus is the real issue. Called Jegs, and was told I have to contact ANOTHER company (LKQ/ ATK). Currently 6+ weeks, and multiple phone calls. Today I finally received a "warranty claim number" from ATK/LKQ... My truck is still sitting waiting for the next step. But at least I have a claim number.. lol... smh... Had I known LKQ had anything to do with this engine, I wouldn't have purchased it. LKQ is where I go to buy junk used replacement motors. I still love Jegs... But Ill never buy a Jegs brand product again. HEY JEGS, HANDLE YOUR OWN WARRANTY CLAIMS! OR TAKE YOUR NAME OFF THE PRODUCT!

Are these heads able to accept 1.6 roller rockers without modification? I’m trying to get a little more lift out of the cam, but want to make sure the pushrods won’t rub on the cylinder heads.
Asked by: AutoXChevelle
Yes, you should be able to use 1.6 rockers arms, check all clearance after installation.
